[ CHARACTER INFORMATION ]

Name: Bayonetta (real name: Cereza)
Age: About 540 due to a long slumber. She looks around her 20s, though.
Gender: Female
Fandom: Bayonetta (Video game)
Timeline: After the end of the game, where she returns to angel hunting—this time together with Jeanne.
History: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bayonetta

Character Personality: Bayonetta is essentially an overpowered witch with incredible demons at her beck and call. Because of this, it isn't hard to see why she wouldn't be campy or all out aggressive towards the angels that try to bring her to her demise. After all, she has the license to do it. She has every bit of power in her fingertips—or rather, the very tips of her hair.

Thanks to all this power she has access to so easily, she feels confident enough to be incredibly cheeky to all her foes to the point that she even becomes campy in the sense that she actually forces out those exaggerated, over-the-top mannerisms of hers. This is best seen in the stage where Cereza (her younger self) was up against a number of angels. While at first Bayonetta is serious, warding off the holy creatures to protect the child, she picks off where she leaves off ("Where was I… oh yes—") and keeps up her over-the-top behavior. In fact, she even freely taunts her foes without any bit of hesitation. In one cutscene, she's seen sticking her ass out at some pesky angels trying to get past her to Cereza. But Bayonetta's shameless and campy behavior extends to even her mannerisms towards other people such as Rodin and even Luka.

Aside from her campy antics, the power so readily available to her makes Bayonetta quite the blood knight, enjoying the feel of a good fight. She even goes as far as dancing on top of her kills just to emphasize how much fun and how easy it was. Rodin even has to keep her from getting a chainsaw attached to her arm. Not surprisingly, though, she only exhibits this almost bloodlusty behavior towards the angels that are set to bring about her demise. In fact, one of the reasons for her coming to Vigrid is because she got tired of her angelic opponents in other places. Given her motivation for going to Vigrid, we can say then that one of Bayonetta's other qualities is having a lust for adventure or greater challenges.

Despite her flamboyant cheekiness and her love for battle, Bayonetta has a side to her that is actually serious, composed and even tender to a degree. This side of her is more or less what she is on the other side of all the inhuman power she possesses. This especially shows in the way she treats people like Cereza, Luka and even Jeanne. In the opening, you see Bayonetta actually calling out to Jeanne, making sure she was alright as they both fought against the angels. Most of her tenderness shows in the way she regards Cereza. While at first she tries to ward her off, telling her about her most hated things (cockroaches and crying babies), she grows to be warmer towards her, protecting her and even following her until the end. Throughout the game, one can notice how her expression tends to shift from a playful, cocky look to the stern, determined face when those she cares for are put in danger.

On top of all this, Bayonetta has a firm connection to the Umbra Witches and will not accept to be anything other than that. She has a deep pride for her ancestry. Even as the Auditio point out her potential to aid in the revival of the creator, Bayonetta only declines and proceeds to destroy them mercilessly.

Character Abilities: Bayonetta is an Umbra Witch, which automatically assumes that she does have magical abilities. The source of an Umbra Witch's powers is her hair and this is used for Wicked Weaves. Wicked Weaves are used to summon forth a demon that the witch has made a pact with. In the case of Bayonetta, this is Madama Butterfly. Madama Butterfly allows Bayonetta to jump twice as high with butterfly wings and crush her opponents with gigantic fists and feet. Through her hair, Bayonetta can also summon more dangerous infernal demons through Climax Attacks that instantly crush or destroy opponents. They can be countered, though, by an equally powerful force. As a witch, Bayonetta can also take on animal forms such as a panther, a crow and bats.

But aside from these supernatural feats, Bayonetta is also quite a weapons master. While her specialty is in the bullet arts (combining hand-to-hand combat with gunner skills) she can also expertly handle a wide array of other weapons including katanas (using iaijutsu), whips, claws and even ice skates.

Even without her witch abilities, Bayonetta is an incredible acrobatic fighter. She can breakdance and shoot her foes at the same time, as well as accomplish multiple kills, even from behind using her bullet arts. A great number of her moves in battle are based on dancing, which also includes pole dancing. Not much has been said about her intelligence, although being a one-woman army, it can be guessed that she has a good head on her shoulders at least.

Character Weaknesses: At first glance, it can be said that Bayonetta is an incredibly overpowered fighter, given all her abilities. But perhaps the most visible weakness she shows, at least before she regains her memories, is fear. At the back of her mind, there's a little bit of fear that holds her back. And she covers it up thoroughly with her charm and bravado.

In one of her memories, she holds her mother's lifeless body in her arms. This sense of loss is perhaps one reason to why she holds a sense of fear. Aside from that, she's aware of her being the last of her kind—at least until she discovers that Jeanne is still alive. She does become stronger, though, when she regains her memories by sending Cereza back to her time. But even so, given her situation, there is a sense of loneliness about Bayonetta, so she cannot afford to let herself die or lose. And it is the same for all those she holds close to her.

She can be fiercely shaken when the people she cares for are in trouble, perhaps part of that fear of being alone. She visibly panics and becomes more aggressive when Cereza and Luka are in danger, sometimes even to the point that she loses her usual finesse.

As most of Bayonetta's personality traits are drawn from the very reason of her readily summoned power, it can be said that without it, she'll be backed into a corner, forced to relearn the art of being a normal human being. Although she could cover it up with wit and humor, there is the chance that she could falter and lose her composure when faced with a situation beyond her control.

[ SOUL CAMPAIGN SECTION ]

What are the abilities that your character will retain in Soul Campaign?
I think the only thing Bayonetta will be able to keep, as a person, is her weapon mastery, flexibility and intelligence. All the Umbra Witch skills she has will be taken away.

What are the weaknesses that your character will lose or gain in Soul Campaign?
Actually, Bayonetta will be noticeably weaker without her Umbra Witch abilities. As said in the weaknesses section, most of her traits as a person—specifically in battle—are drawn from her being tremendously powerful. Being reduced to a typical human would definitely make her stagger, forcing her to adjust. After five hundred years of being incredibly overpowered, learning to be normal will really throw her off.

Given the aim of the campaign, Bayonetta will possibly lose her will to fight for a while. Basically, from an overpowered angel hunter, she would be demoted to an aimless, powerless woman who may not even be able to pick up a weapon herself as she is a weapon. She'll have a lot of adjusting and relearning to do.

[ WEAPON ONLY SECTION ]

Why your character should be a Weapon: Bayonetta was supposedly a weapon in her story—the Left Eye of the World to summon the Creator, Jubileus. While she does have the pizzazz and charm to become a Meister, I feel like that doesn't exactly bring out the best in her. After all, she's an extremely powerful being with the blood of both light and dark flowing through her.

At the same time, Bayonetta has always been a one-person show, even if she had been working with Rodin and Enzo. Although it shows that she can work with someone such as Jeanne or Luka, Bayonetta has mainly worked alone and can be quite the rebel. Thus, it'll be good for her to be forced to work with another person to unleash her abilities. I think it'll be an interesting way to make the partnership shine and grow.

What is your character's Weapon form?: Bayonetta will take the form of a whip, vaguely resembling Kulshedra with its pistol-like hilt and the panther-shaped charm attached to it. This hilt is colored red and gold. Instead of a serpentine demon like the original Kulshedra, the whip's cord is made of tightly woven black witch hair—Bayonetta's own. This hair, much like Bayonetta's in the game, gives the whip its powers.

The whip acts like an ordinary whip at low resonance. But as resonance grows, the whip becomes more limber, able to lengthen at will. The stronger the weapon becomes, the further its limit for lengthening goes. The whip also can develop enough strength to throw a foe if the meister's own physical strength can handle the momentum. Finally, cracking the whip can create a distracting sound wave that confuses the opponent.

[ SOUL INFORMATION ]

Soul Description: Determined, sassy, cruel, confident, defiant, caring.

Soul Appearance: Bayonetta's soul is of an average size, in a very vivid, butterfly blue. She also has glasses with a butterfly motif on the frame. The tail of the soul is shaped like her beehive hair-do, which is corded up with black ribbons. While she wears red ribbons through her hair in person, her soul wears black to match her ties with her Umbra ancestry.
